eat, drink, enjoy... Istanbul

A long time in the coming; this page is grossly the result of my friends' encouragment... As someone that takes tremendous joy in eating, drinking and being out and about in general I often get asked for ideas of where to go for all types of occasion; ranging from birthday drinks to anniversary dinners to casual going outs... And since I so enjoy discovering new places and sharing any knowledge and ideas with the people around me (not to mention full out organizing for them); I decided maybe it's time after all to finally bring all this together into some sort of coherent repertoire or book so to speak.

Although the motivation comes from my entourage, my inspiration is based on what I myself ideally seek when researching a venue or simply reading about places in general. Beyond the typical introductory description, I find it's actually the finer details that count, the ones you're usually wondering about in your mind - like what sort of ambiance there is, when it is recommended to go, for what occasion, what sort of dress code there is, etc etc. The reason people ask each other rather than look things up - not counting the lazy factor - is usually to get that extra input and recommendation from the other person.

 

So this is why I wanted to try make this site as practical and pragmatic as possible - for all neurotic people like myself who like to know just that little bit more - and why I organised each place with tag labels, besides the general categories, so you can search by occasion, type or location! And because it's "my book" I'm only including places that I would recommend or at least suggest to friends; so it's subjective I admit, but at least it's honest as well.
